Feeling poems...

When I am bored...
When I am bored I feel like a peanut butter sandwich
When I am bored I feel like a ball eating me.
When I am bored I feel like going to see Harold.
When I am bored I feel like going to school.
When I am bored I feel like a freddo frog.
When I am bored I feel like a red nose reindeer…

I Feel Surprised
I feel surprised when something I don't expect happens. When I feel surprised my mouth is as wide as a hippo’s mouth. When I feel surprised I say Wow. When I feel surprised I say you mean it no you mean it.
By Sam

When I am thoughtful I feel like I am on top of the world.
I feel smart and ready to go like I am going to explode with ideas
Like a millionaire that has won money.
Like I have won a trophy.
I feel like I know everything.
By Billy

When I’m confident I feel like I’m number 1.
When I’m confident I feel like a beaming sun.
When I’m confident I feel like I’m on top of the world.
When I’m confident I feel like I’m going to write so much that my pencil is going to go on fire.
When I’m confident I feel like I can do anything

Welcome to Ciara

Hi, my name is Ciara. I just moved to New Zealand on the 10th of June. I did live in Ireland but then I came here. I have lots of friends over in Ireland. But I'm sure I will make lots of different friends and on my first day I have already made lots of friends. I love my teacher. It is great that I have family that live around the corner. In my old school I did not have any boys, I just had girls. My old school was a lot harder. My cousin is in this school too. The class is very bright with all the colours in it.

Finishing off for Friday...

We finished off Friday with a visit to Room 1 to share our homework then we went out to spread out the huge leaf pile. It was a lot of fun.

Matariki mural...

Matariki

As part of our Funky Friday learning we read stories about Matariki. We decided to make a Matariki mural. It is huge!!!!! It is hanging up in the hallway and it might go in the foyer when it is finished. We had to draw around Ryan to get the shape of the chief for our mural. We have got a lot of work to do on it yet. We created some gorgeous Matariki scratchings! Check back soon to see some of them.

Marvellous, magical "M" day...

Today was "M" day for our alphabet homework presentation. We had two very special visitors. Jacob arranged for Molly to visit at 9 o'clock and Thomas had Maggie visit at 10 o'clock. I think it was a good thing they visited at seperate times - don't you?

Dinosaur funky Friday fun...

We had so much fun for Dinosaur Funky Friday. It was our first time ever having senior boys to Funky Friday. James and Josh were so helpful. We painted our movie backdrop, painted our plaster of paris models and made books to display our dinosaur facts on. Some of us got to work on our dinosaur posters.

I am so proud of everyone in my class who remembered to wear their pedometer and record their steps. We sure have travelled a long way! We are very close to making the full distance. Please remember to record your steps this weekend and on Monday I hope we will have made it!

Life Education visit today...

Today we went to the Life Ed Bus again and talked about feelings. We came back to class and wrote some ideas about our feelings.

Bridget said:-
When I am hysterical
I feel silly, like a laughing bee,
I feel like laughing out loud, like a cow mooing,
and like a chicken that has lost control.
When I am hysterical
I feel like a balloon popped,
I feel like a volcano gone crazy,
I feel like running around crazy!

Aaliyah said:-
When I am negative
I feel like a butterfly with no wings,
Like running round the block fifty times,
Like yelling into my pillow really loud.
Like a volcano flooding the world,
Like jumping on the trampoline really high,
Like ripping up lots of paper...

Life Education Bus

Room 4 went to the Life Education Bus today. We saw Harold. We learnt about body parts. Some of us got to pick up a body part. I got the bowels, that's at the bottom of your body. We got to watch a movie. It was about Billy. He was Harold's friend. Billy went to a new school in Wellington.

Otago Champion Gymnast Zara!

On Saturday and Sunday it was the Otago Champ’s gym competition. I was on Sunday. I am in level 2. At prize giving I came 1st overall, 2nd in free, 2nd in hoop and 1st in ball. It was so hard training for the Otago champs. We had to train on Monday and Wednesday, 4 hours a week. But I’m glad that I had to train so hard so that I could win the Otago champs. The best part of winning was the Otago champ trophy. It was so big. It had a gymnast on it. I think I won because of all my hard work and constant training. I am so proud of myself.

Josh's raffle prize

On Tuesday I shared my soccer news.
I won a raffle 2 weeks ago. The things in the raffle were a signed soccer top, a soccer ball, a drink bottle and a block of chocolate. The size of the top was a double XL & it was signed by all the All Whites. The soccer ball was signed by an All White.

Kurt's lamingtons

For A to Z home work I did lamington cakes. First I rolled lamingtons in chocolate then coconut. Then I put it on a tray to thaw. Then I took them to school in tinfoil to show to the class. We ate them and they were delicious. By Kurt.
